Alejandro Quiroz-Leal

Musician, researcher and sound creator

I am a Mexican musician, researcher and sound creator whose work brings together artistic practice, teaching and research around musical experience, listening, improvisation and the cognitive processes involved in music.

My academic background includes guitar performance, music theory, composition, musicology and social psychology. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Musical Cognition at UNAM, where I explore music as a cognitive, embodied and collective phenomenon.

My practice moves across composition, performance, pedagogy, sound art and interdisciplinary research. Through different projects, I work on the intersection of listening, temporality, embodiment, collective interaction and experimental musical creation.

Selected trajectory

I have worked as a performer, composer, conductor, teacher and sound designer in artistic, academic and interdisciplinary contexts. In 2019, I premiered the orchestral work Aletheia. Hala ken. Since 2018, I have collaborated with the Sandro Cohen Institute as a composer, music producer and sound designer for educational materials. Since 2023, I have also been a satellite percussionist for Adhisthana, an acoustic contemporary ensemble based in Oaxaca.
